~ Fall into Reading 2011 ~

Woohoo ~ I'm so excited. I just recently decided to dust off my blog as well as start my reading habits again and look what I found. Yay!

I've so many books I'd love to read and I've allowed the busyness of being a student rob me of my joy of ready. No more and I'm so excited especially after reading for only 15mins last night. What a joy that was. Can you tell I'm excited. I will have to schedule my reading but it will be so worth it.

~My List* ~
Towards a Philosphy of Education by Charlotte Mason
Jane Austen Handbook by Marilyn Sullivan
Intercessary Prayer by Dutch Sheets
Northanger Abby by Jane Austen
Tough Cookie by Diane Motts Davidson
The Good School by Peg Tyre

*this will be modified tomorrow :D

~ Starting Again ~

Its been along time since I've been here. My blog house has been very empty. I'm thinking and praying about what I shall do with it. I've missed it a little but not much. I believe I've let life get in the way of what I enjoy most. I will share that I've decided to do my 3 books again and I'm mediatating on scripture too. I need to work on getting my thoughts and life back in order, it has been out of whack for too long.

My 3 books:
Breaking Controlling Spirits ~ Roberts Liardon
Charlotte Mason Volume 6
Winter Study

My Scripture:
"For you have not been given a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind." 2 Tim 1:7

Off to bed now, need to start resting more and spending time reading. Nite!

Blind Assassin ~ returned
The Joy Luck Club ~ done
Dante's Inferno ~ changed my mind
Mansfield Park
For the Children's Sake ~ done
Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World
Body Clutter ~ this will have to wait
There are no shortcuts ~ done
Knit One, Kill Two ~ done
Chicks with Sticks ~ done *****
Died in the Wool ~ done

As you can see I've added a few books. Most that are done. I need to find my copy of "Having a Mary heart" so that I can get it started. Mansfield Park is on request from the library and I need to write reviews for what I recently finished. No time today to do more then this quick update. More later in the week.

~ Spring Reading Thingy ~ Update

Blind Assassin ~ returned
The Joy Luck Club ~ done
Dante's Inferno
Mansfield Park
For the Children's Sake ~ done
Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World
Body Clutter ~ this will have to wait
There are no shortcuts
Knit One, Kill Two ~ done
Chicks with Sticks ~ done *****

So, the above was my original list right?! Well, lets see ~ I believe an update is in order.
Blind Assassin - returned to library w/o completing ~ too much inappropriate language for my liking.

The Joy Luck Club - listened to an abridged version and watched movie ~ not sure I liked it but it was very interesting to learning the history and life stories of these women who were brought together by shared tragedy and interest. It reminds me of some of my friends, new and old. ;D

For the Childrens Sake ~ book for those who want to use Charlotte Mason's principles today, at home and in a school. Valuable resource ~ full of tips, explanations and ideas to implement the methods. I highly recommend this book to new and veteran homeschoolers.

Knit One, Kill Two ~ this is a murder mystery which involves a community of knitters. The main character doesn't knit but is the heir of the murdered victim. She learns to knit and appreciate the craft that her beloved aunt adored as she tries to find her killer and keep from losing her property. I found the book a bit dull but the pattern and recipe in the back of the book fun. I look forward to using both. I am planning to read the next book "Needled to Death" and hope its alot better. ;D

Chicks with Sticks ~ this is a young adult book that I absolutely enjoyed. I know, I know ~ it was written for teens but nonetheless I found it alot of fun to read. The main character, of course is a teenage, and its told from her perspective. You are introduced to her as she is experiencing another night of insomnia. Boy, can I relate to those nights. You follow her life for about a year and discover the source of her agony, the comfort she finds in knitting along with the flack she gets for knitting. You meet her friends, her crazy parents who turn around at the end and you leave with the satisfied feeling that you too have come away with a new perspective on life. Knitting can bring all sorts together for a common good no matter what the odds. Thats the part I like about the book and my new found hobby. Enjoy!

Thats all for now. Happy Reading!

~ Happy Friday ~

Nothing much happening around these parts. Its been pretty dull due to excessive toothaches. ;D I'm doing better and spending time reading, pondering and knitting. I'll be back next week w/updates on my "Spring Reading Thingy" since I've finished a book or two. I want to add some new quotes too and get back into the meme's I love so much.

Until then, have an awesome weekend!

~Something to Think About~

Laziness and Slothfulness
Don't Allow Either in Your Life!*

"That ye be not slothful, but followers of them
who through faith and patience inherit
the promises. " Hebrews 6:12

Prayer for Today*:
Lord, help me understand how totally unacceptable it is for me to lose my passion, momentum, and desire. I ask You to forgive me for allowing any hint of slothfulness to operate in my life. Today I repent and deliberately turn from slothfulness. Holy Spirit, I turn to You now and ask You to stir and reignite the fire in my heart. Please help me regain the zeal, the thrust, and the fire I once possessed. Help me to keep that fire burning this time, never to lose it again. I pray this in Jesus' name! Amen

Absentee blogger

I've been spending less time online and more time in prayer, reading and relaxing since I quit my job. It has been a refreshing and enlightening time. I have much to share once I get my thoughts together. I have recently joined a couple of reading groups laterly and it has been fun to read w/others.

BestofAllBooks ~ is a yahoo group I join in Jan and we read Sense & Sensibility last month. I just finished it yesterday. I know, its Feb but I've been working on this for over a year and I finally got it done. I even managed to crochet a thing or two. You can check out the pic of one completed project here. This month, the group is reading "Eyre Affair" and I choose to read "Queen of Babble." I didn't enjoy it very much and still haven't decided how to rate it or review it. I'll have to think about it some more. You can check out the group using the link in my sidebar.

Knit the Classics ~ is the newest group I've joined and they read a book, then create a project based on it. I like this idea very much especially when it comes to the classic books. I don't knit much but am planning to learn more. You can visit the site using the link in my side bar.

Well, its past my bedtime for sure so I'll write more later in the week if not tomorrow.

Fall Reading Challenge 06 ~ Update

The challenge is almost over ~ tomorrow to be exact. I'm not even finished but thats okay. I've manage to read most of my list and there are only 3 books left. Maybe I'll get to finish them this weekend but no promises since I'd like to start on my classics reading while I crochet. I'll post reviews of the books after Christmas, for those who are interested in knowing what I thought of the books I finished.

Have a great day!
