~ Something to Think About ~

Night Sky Painting by Rebecca Fitchett

"Thinking about the night as the beginning of the day reminds us that everything doesn't depend on us. We go to sleep, but God is working all through the night. So we don't have to be anxious or rushed. When we wake up, we will simply join him in his work."

Resting in His Grace!

My life line:

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

~ Something to think about ~

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations.... Matthew 28:19

This scripture was the one resounding through my head as I prayed about enrolling in Bible School for the 2nd year. I wanted to go and knew that it would be good for me to go. However, there was no $$ to go. I found myself praying alot about it til one day a close friend told me to apply for a scholarship. I didn't even knew they had a scholarship program ~ shows you how much I was paying attention. ;D So began another journey in prayer because I didn't know what to write on the application ~ this was not your typical scholarship form and I was working full-time so I felt awkward asking for $$.

Over a period of 2 wks I spent alot of time studying my Bible, praying and trying to figure out how to go to school. One night at about 3a, I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. I decided to read and pray hoping I would be able to relax and go back to sleep. That didn't happen ~ instead I began writing. I can't remember everything I wrote that night but I remember very clearly the answer to the question "why do I want to attend Bible School?" My answer was ~ "I know in my heart that I've been called to teach. I hear clearing the Lord saying "Go ye" and my answer is "I will".

This was almost 9yrs ago but I remember that night clearly knowing that I was to go to school and that the Lord was making a way out of no way. Yes, I received my scholarship ~ which paid for all my classes and books. I graduated and received my diploma for completing the 2yr program. It was the best and worst year of my life. However, as I reflect now ~ I wouldn't be able to do what I do now if it hadn't been for that leap of faith.

Now in '08 ~ this scripture returns, its my devotions for the day. Again I must answer the question, "will you go?" As I think about it, and I'm sure most of you thought the same thing, go where? Oh sure, it would be awesome to go to Russia again, to travel all over the world but realistically I must stay put and graduate my younger children. So as I'm pondering where exactly I am to go, I finish reading the devotion. You know what, it was exactly the one I read that late night long ago filling out my scholarship application. Now I've read this probably 10 times or more since then but today it stands out once again. Here is the part that speaks the loudest:

"In addition to the challenging command "go ye," there is another option, an alternative reading of this verse. Besides "go ye," the opening phrase can be interpreted, "As you go . . . " All Christians are in motion. We are on a path leading to our eternal home. We are going through this life, led by the Spirit, and strengthened by the Word of God.
"As you go, make disciples of all nations." When you go to the post office, when you go to the store, when you go to work, to school, or to church. When you go on vacation. Whenever and wherever you go, be on the lookout for opportunities to share with others the Good News!
Not only go, but as you - make disciples!"

So as I'm working on lesson plans for my dear children, as I'm writing out my grocery list, as I'm helping a customer at work ~ I need to be operating in "go ye" mode. I must confess, I've not been lately. I've only been focused on getting the 2 graduated and prepared for college; being on time for work and how much housework must get done. I've not taught them how to "go ye" or "as you go" and that is not right. I'm so glad the Lord is forgiving and will allow me the chance to get it right. I'm humbled that He loves me enough to remind me today of my purpose, His plan for my life and that I am able to fulfill it no matter the circumstances. Therefore, I will go and as I go, I will share the good news with all and tell of His unfailing love.

Will you go with me? You can ~ just say "I will."

Ponderings....

Its time to get back into the swing of things. I believe I've been on mental vacation for long enough. I've neglected my personal studies but I've grown in other areas. I've enriched my life by learning new skills, making new friends and simply enjoying myself. So in other words ~ I'm back.

I'm planning my "mother culture" reading list, planning new things to blog about, looking forward to a wonderful school year w/my dc. Only 2 left and both are interested in seeking college admittance. I'm excited for both of them, they are really good and deserve the very best that our Lord has for them. I'm realizing that I fall short because I fail to take what is rightfully mine and work from there. I've spent quite abit of time pondering why things aren't the way they should be and I realize that I'd lost my joy. Now I know it possible, it has happened before but it was truly interesting to realize as I prepared for my day, that was the main issue with me. I was singing and each song I sang from memory centered around His joy. My favorite scripture is ~ "the joy of the Lord is my strength," but it hadn't been for quite sometime and its all my fault.

One of my new things will be theme's of study. I will pick a topic/subject/scripture/word and study it to apply it to my life. I will share here as often as the Spirit will allow, no need to burden you all with my musings if they are only meant for me. This week's theme is "Joy." It is a timely study as we begin our new school year and I want it to be successful. I want to "show ourselves approved" by studying and applying the Word of God to our lives not just the academic stuff the world thinks is more important. I know that the knowledge of who He is and His Word are the vital life of each of us and I want this to be more and more a part of what we do and learn. Enjoy your day.

~ Be Blessed ~

Lord, I desire to walk in the fullness of what you've done for me. Help me to understand and to continue to walk in your truth, your wisdom, and your strength. I honor you and praise you for being my Lord and Savior. May I walk worthy of the calling which you have set before me.

Let everything that has breathe praise the Lord!

This morning’s devotional writer talked about the “Chimes of Praise.” He mostly pointed us to creations praise of our Lord ~ sounds you hear outside your window everyday but may not have noticed or even recognized as praise. He goes on to illustrate how at the first of August you hear more clearly the insects then you did before especially the locust. How the birds are either tired or to full and fat to sing so you can hear the other insects.

This morning as I let the dog out ~ I heard what would easily be described as a Hallelujah chorus. I stopped to listen realizing that I was experiencing just what he described. I admit, I don’t think I’ve ever really listened to nature like I did today and I was rewarded for my attentiveness. The locust sang in 3 part harmony, the birds chimed in and their was melody that I can’t even begin to describe. I originally thought the sounds were coming from only one direction but as the melody and tempo changed, I realized that all the trees were resounding in sound and it was glorious. I thank the Lord for such a wonderful, awesome moment. I stood in silence listening, watching the moths play around my legs until I was startled inside by a loud buzzing sound, which when I turned to move away realized this insect was also singing. ;D

Have you stopped to listen to the praises around you? Have you offered up your own praise today? Lift up your head, your heart and open your mind and give praise to the one and only God. May you be blessed and filled with His praise, His peace, His joy and His goodness.

~ Thankful Thursday ~

Count your blessings ~ one by one ~

being grateful for them all and giving thanks.

Oh, I've not shared in a while and there have been some amazing things happening in my life. I'll try to recap in a brief style of what I'm most thankful for in the past 3 wks, there may be more later.

The opportunity to drive to NC in early June, to visit with friends, to see the Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountains again, to have my oldest daughter ride with me, meeting people I've met online and making new friends, for Thrifty rental ~ making my life much easier without my own car, my dh for allowing me to go on my trip ~ providing minutes for my cell phone ~ for understanding that I needed time away from home, the ability to work at a concert and hear one of my fav artist ~ Chris Rice, sharing my faith with others, spending time alone with God, reading books by authors I've never known ~ I'm lovin' Maisie Dobbs, getting books in my fav series ~ SisterChicks ;D, for the gift of giving, and most of all, for the love of my family, my God and those who are near and dear to my heart.

Be Blessed ~ have an awesome weekend!

Hear My Voice
~ by Jeremy Camp

You are the only one that brings me peace
You are the only one where hope is seen
The mercy you've given is more than I deserve
So I lay it down so I can heed your word

Hear my voice, I raise to you
With Honor and praise

All Glory is due
I lay it down all at your feet
With lifted hands it's you we seek

You are the only one that brings me truth
You are the only one that makes me new
The grace you've given a gift for all to see
So this is why I give you everything

And to you I lift my voice
And to you I life my hands
And to you I give my heart

Random Thoughts

Its been quiet around here. I've not had much to blog about though I could easily write about my books read, the projects completed, the fact that we finished our school term or various sun dried items. But I've not said anything. I am pondering simplicity for my life. I currently have about 6 active blogs and I'm beginning to not enjoy keeping so many. I know several will have to remain active so that I can leave comments for my friends. However, I'm beginning to feel the need to simplify to 2 main blogs and just be. I want to keep this one ~ which is near and dear to my heart. The only change would be to add our school entries here. Since I focus on learning for this blog its only fitting to add our school stuff here. Yes, I know that would mean giving up my beloved Excelsior Warriors url but for the sake of my sanity and less is more, it will have to go. Its been a wonderful almost 2 yrs blogging but the thrill has faded and I must move on. I'm planning to make my crafty blog my homestead/craft/daily life blog, but the more I think about it ~ I may size down to just 1 blog or website. Hmm, don't know for sure yet but I'll keep you posted.

Have an awesome weekend!
